I am so sorry to have to discontinue reading anymore of the Bregdan series. I have read each book, waiting patiently for each one to come out. The previous book, the author began to veer from her other books, introducing a storyline about homosexuality. I wrote to the author in hopes she would stop using the series to be a platform for her to keep promoting her lifestyle of homosexuality. She wrote back that through her research, she found that during that time period she was writing about, there indeed were homosexuals and that she felt justified in writing about them. Ok, touch on the subject and move on. But instead, she has once again used the series to continue her dialogue to justify her lifestyle and her stance on the subject, weaving it into a storyline of one of the characters introduced earlier in the series. It really does sadden me to see this happen. I wanted to give the author another opportunity to get back to writing the story she first started out writing with lots of rich history about the times past but I had no idea that it would take such a turn that is so far from the authors original writing. Like the storyline about the Indians, it took most of a book for the author to complete her thoughts about that but that was that. She hasn't felt the need, nor is there any need, to revisit it. But in this instance, she just can't seem to move away from the homosexuality issue. I'm sure there are other writers who write books about homosexuals. If I had an interest in such things I would find authors that wrote on the subject. But this series is not the place to be doing it.

Amazing book as it continues to follow the live and times of Carrie, her family and friends. As they all continue to fight the fight for total and complete freedom for everyone. I read where Abby said that if we ever want individual equality, we need to fight for it for everyone. Not just the blacks, women, and Irish. Everyone. This is the only way America will truly ever become what everyone hopes it will be. It is sad that after 149 years we are still waiting for that to happen. We are still fighting for equality for everyone. It makes me ashamed to see how the whites treated those who were different. Carrie’s relationship with her horse, Granite, is amazing. He is getting older and knowing that, it makes it hard for her to decide if she should stay on the plantation or go back to Philadelphia to finish her surgical internship. It is amazing how these women found yet another way to try and makes things better for everyone. They decided to start Bregdan Women to other areas so they can show other women how to help themselves and in that way help others. Reaching out to all people no matter their race, or gender. It is amazing that women stepped out in spite of all the horrible things the men were doing to them to get them to stay in "their place". I am so glad they had the courage to do this. I think we have a better world for what they did. I can't wait for the book. Spring of 2019 can't come fast enough for me. :) Please, Ginny, keep the books coming. I look forward to getting them. I can't put them done once I start reading.

I always love this book series. I can never just read it because Google calls me to get more information on each of the brilliantly researched historic events. But, like Abby, I have been looking for more in my retirement. My family comes first always but as the two eldest of my beloved grandsons approach college graduation I feel the stirrings to do more than quilt, and read, care for the younger grands, and help out middle grandson approach his non verbal world....something bigger than I. So I'll be joining these brave women, and I include the author in that group, to try to ponder what that may be.As always this is a delightful, informative, moving continuation of the saga.....eagerly awaiting the next installment

As a follower of this series, I was intrigued when author Ginny broached the subject several times about Granite's age. Before this book was released I wondered how much time Carrie's best friend had left as a character. Although still unanswered, I see we were traveling along the same thread. I find the whole KKK issue interesting and appalling at the same time. Having lived through the troublesome 60s and beyond, I am surprised that we as a nation and as a society are no further along in our racial development than what's portrayed in the 1800s. Makes my heart ache. As always I recommend this series. It's wholesome, I will assume mostly historically accurate, and it makes a reader think about their biases and family indoctrination relating to those biases. Thank you Ginny Dye for being such a positive guide during this period of history.

Again I find myself waiting for the next book in this wonderful series. I find it amazing that some of the things that are happening in our country NOW happened years ago. Politicians are continuing to manipulate the American people. They continue to take advantage of the the American people who do not possess a formal education, and those that are, with two people working, just making ends meet. The poor, the homeless, America’s war veterans and so many more. They continue to use these people to achieve their objective, which is to CONTROL. Will this end, I ask myself this question as I read the pages of this book. The fear, that Rose and Mosses feel is felt in so many of our communities. It s amazing that women like Janie, and Carrie have to fight to become doctors in the still male oriented world. It’s shameful that women still in 2019 do not receive not only the same pay, but the chance for advancement that men seem to be entitled to. I hope my granddaughter does not have to face this, but it seems that until more people learn the Bregdan Principle I fear things will never change. I look forward to reading the next in this series. As usual as soon as I received it on my Kindle, I began reading and could not put it down until I finished. So now I wait hoping the new one will come out soon.
