Even for an advanced level student who completed a Master’s degree in Hebrew and Semitic Languages, this handbook is slow-going! I have worked through the Amos handbook of the same series, and I love the idea of scholarly engagement in the new Baylor Hebrew Handbook series, but the fact that these two are, at points, worlds apart pertaining to terminology and methods for analysis, it quite disconcerting. And the result is that the Qohelet handbook is much more difficult to work than the one on Amos. So much so, that I discouraged a beginning student of mine who is working through the Amos handbook to purchase this one until he has reached a much more advanced level.
