I hit the big 70 a couple of months ago and did a bit of a "me" inventory. Ok for 70...but a far cry from my prime. I had cancer surgery some time ago and kind of got out of the daily habit of investing in my fitness. SOOOO...along comes this new book from Sharkie Zartman. I open it up and it reminds me of all the things I need to do for me...IF I want to get fit and stay that way as I geezer up. She makes it simple. She gives me encouragement. She challenges me. It is a quick and easy read...I love it. Thanks to the author for getting me off my large resting area and getting back on the track. I will be the better for having read this terrific book.

Sharkie Zartman has written a very useful book that inspires action with loads of practical tips to get one motivated. I particularly liked the classification of different types of yoga which helped me choose the right style for me. A great read that ends each chapter with a Pep Talk from Sharkie.

Sharkie Zartman's "Have Fun Getting Fit" is a comprehensive approach to starting a fitness program at any age but is especially useful for those over 40. It is easy to read and yet packed with a wealth of information. I particularly appreciated her discussion of the difference in workouts to build bulk and strength versus endurance and tone. Her discussion on nutrition and fitness is packed with information that is refreshingly accurate given the misinformation promulgated by the weight-loss/diet industry. The focus on body composition over weight is priceless. I am 67 and more fit than at any other point in my life--I have 19% body fat and can still run a 7 minute mile. So I know that age is not a barrier to fitness and I thought that there was nothing more that I would learn from a book on fitness. Yet Sharkie's chapter on flexibility and yoga was a revelation to me. I never new there were so many forms of yoga and I am now motivated to add one of these to my own fitness regimen.
With more than 30 years of experience as a martial artist and yoga practitioner, I know how important it is develop a fit lifestyle. Zartman does a fantastic job of demonstrating that there is no one-size fits all formula for fitness.
