Goodwin's ethnographic is the classic work on Western Apache warfare. It's based on personal interviews of surviving participants in the 1930s. This is a must-read for any student of this subject.

Lots of history and I love history and also alot of the strategy's that they used and weapons they used. The only reason we won was sheer numbers, if the size of the forces were close to the same size we'd either be speaking Apache or back in england. I've got alot of respect for these guy's

Truly amazing what you will learn if you just let people talk, with out "Civilized" bias. If you want to Learn about the Apache and their wars, this is the first book you should buy.
I now have a better understanding , how my father was raised and grandfather did NOT speak much.
This is a great book. I have some Apache friends and I gave them one. Some of the people in this book are their ancestors. This book records these people's ancestors' lives in their ancestors' own words.
Excellent book. Filled in some Apache traditions gaps that were missing in my understanding.
