We had this anchoring guide for the Gulf Coast of Florida. We found the guide to be extremely accurate and exactly as described. We were heading into severe weather and the guide directed us to a safe anchorage for the week that we had to stay put. We found a great little anchorage with the help of the guide that was out of the way and not popular. It was perfect. Every anchorage was excellent. So we had to purchase this guide. We haven’t used it yet but I have Faith that this one will be every bit as good as our gulf guide. Excellent and deserves 6 stars
I purchased this guide because I thought it would offer in-depth information as to what amenities are located on each island, any docks in the area, etc. About half of the location descriptions are greatly detailed, which is very helpful, but the other half is lacking. It is almost as if two different people each wrote half of this book. It does provide excellent anchorage details and approximate water depths. I would have liked for the maps to have been larger in order to see the surrounding area instead of a focused location.
Very informative hopefully it will be useful on my voyage to the Bahamas
I am not very impressed with this book. It does everything is it supposed to do. It is an anchor book! But I don't think it is worth the money. This book is worth maybe $10 . The review of anchors and anchoring techniques is not detailed enough. The Wavey Line Charts could be blown up to about 1/4 page each so you had more of a feel of the area and the charts might be useful. The not for navigation on each chart does not help either. The weather information, SSB's, government websites, are all standard bill of fare. The information is solid, but not spectacular, not insightful. This books reads, to me, like a Wikipedia review. It did not feel to me as if I were getting in-depth knowledge. I am just heading out for the Bahamas, I like staying in marinas, but it saves money to anchor out, so I will evaluate the anchoring spots when in the islands and update this report.
